So much happened in 2024! But there were certainly some highlights that we will look back on in years to come and wonder : “How did we do that?”
There was the Metal Madness Powerlifting competitions – 2 of them! One in April, and one on a blazing hot day in October. Both events were successful – numerous records shattered at both events with some incredible displays of strength and sportmanship over all age and weight categories!
On the Bodybuilding stages, Hein, Christiaan, Angie and Nichelle all competed and exceeded all expectations! As first timers, Angie and Nichelle both placed well in their categories against some seasoned competitors and we look forward to what they will bring in 2025.
Shortly after Christiaan’s Powerlifting competition in April, he went into prep for the local PCA Bodybuilding Competition which was the precursor to the IBFF Bodybuilding competition in Cape Town. By the time the Cape Town competition came round, he was in peak form, and took his place proudly on stage.
Hein set his sights high for the year but it was not without its challenges! The PCA competition was an absolute blast and Hein took to the stage in peak form, winning the Disability category and 2nd place in the Masters. The IBFF Competition in Cape Town went well, and he won his category, and placed well in the Master’s category – Good enough for an invite to the IBFF Mr Universe Competition in October! With his usual persistence, work ethic and dedication, he trained harder than ever for the biggest competition in his life. And on 26 October 2024, with a panel of international judges and a huge crowd, he was announced as Mr Universe in the Disability category. At age 55! The standing ovation was the cherry on top for a year of hard work, dedication and sacrifice.
